Can existing microbial strains be transferred to 53Biologics?

Yes. We can seamlessly transfer client-developed microbial strains into our development and manufacturing platform. Alternatively, if a production strain has not yet been established, we can support host selection, construct design and strain development to build an expression system tailored to your protein and manufacturing goals.

Do I need to have my expression construct before starting a project?

No. We can work from an existing construct or support vector design, gene optimization and cloning to create an expression system tailored to your project.

How do you select the best expression strategy?

When multiple hosts are an option, we work with you in a short host-selection project, evaluating protein production across the different microbial strains (expression levels, solubility and more) to recommend the most appropriate host and construct design.

Can strain development be performed with IP-free tools?

Yes, when technically appropriate. Depending on the target protein, selected host and project requirements, we can use IP-free molecular biology tools to support construct design and strain development, helping reduce licensing complexity where feasible.

What information is needed to start a strain development project?

Typical starting information includes the gene sequence, target protein, intended application, preferred expression host (if known) and any existing expression or process data. Our team will help define the most suitable development strategy.
